Ilkay Mehmet was a photojournalist and an ex Press photographer who worked for a number of British newspapers, including:

The Daily Mirror, The Observer, The Guardian, The Independent, The Economist and Time Out magazines.


He worked on commissioned and non-commissioned assignments on a variety of subject matter, including: public disorder documentary, photojournalism, portraiture, music, fashion, editorial and travel photography throughout the United Kingdom and further afield, including: Europe, Africa, America and the Middle East.

His first employment in journalism was as a photogrpher at the age of 24 as a regular freelance contributor toThe Observer Newspaper; at the age of 27 he became staff photographer for Britain's Daily Telegraph Newspaper, from which he resigned in 1992 after three years continuous service.
